MEDFAR Is Proud To Partner With Canada Health Infoway in the PrescribeIT Initiative

May 20, 2020

Always striving to make healthcare more accessible and safe, MEDFAR is proud to partner with Canada Health Infoway’s PrescribeIT initiative.

PrescribeIT is a Canadian electronic prescription service. Among other things, the service allows pharmacists and prescribers to write, receive, renew and cancel prescriptions electronically. The program operates in 10 provinces and territories in Canada and has agreements with many EMR and pharmacy management system (PMS) providers. It is a secure system offered by Canada Health Infoway, a non-profit organization funded by the Government of Canada.

This initiative will connect the EMR systems used by healthcare professionals to management systems used by pharmacists to eliminate prescriptions printing and paper handling. The deployment of this initiative is timely as professionals are trying to reduce travel and physical contact due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to speeding up the process, sending prescriptions electronically reduces the risk of loss, fraud and falsification.

Moreover, PrescribeIT further simplifies the communication between clinician and  pharmacist with secure messaging, renewal requests and prescription cancellation electronically. This bilateral communication system saves time and avoids phone calls between stakeholders.

This initiative spearheaded by Canada Health Infoway comes perfectly aligned with MEDFAR’s mission, as it contributes to optimize clinical practice and  quality of care. Our collaboration aims at making telemedicine more accessible and Canada Health Infoway’s support is timely as we recently completed the development of our new teleconsultation functionality, MYLE Telemed.

At MEDFAR, we are excited to partner with such a key player and fulfill our vision to offer the only complete telehealth management solution.
